Maintenance Technologist Certification Program
The GAWP Maintenance Technologist (MT) Certification program is a voluntary certification program that follows the same levels as the Association of Boards of Certification Plant Maintenance Technologist Certification.
Once a Maintenance Technologist Certification is obtained, it can be renewed. Every Maintenance Technologist License expires on June 30th of every odd year. CERTIFICATION STEPS
To obtain an initial Maintenance Technologist certification, please follow these steps.
STEP 1
Determine the level of certification you need
The GAWP Maintenance Technologist (MT) Certification follows the same levels as the Association of Boards of Certification Plant Maintenance Technologist Certification. The GAWP Maintenance Technologist program requires that everyone start at the entry level (Level III). Once a Level III certification is obtained, the next step is a Level II, followed by the final certification level, Level I.

STEP 2
Obtain Experience
The GAWP Maintenance Technologist program requires that applicants have experience in actual hands-on maintenance prior to taking the examination. The amount of required experience is indicated below for each level of certification.

The applicant will be required to document work history that includes the type of work performed and the approximate dates of employment.
STEP 3
Obtain Training
The program requires that applicants complete course work prior to taking an exam. This course work must include Maintenance Technologist training. GWWI provides a number of courses that are approved for the Maintenance Technologist Certification.

STEP 4
Take and Pass the GAWP Maintenance Technologist Certification Exam
GWWI offers the Level III Exam immediately following the GWWI Basic Maintenance Technologist (Level III) training course. Registration is available on our Course Schedule page.

Maintenance Technologist Exam
In addition, the Level III, Level II, and Level I exams are offered through Applied Measurement Professionals, Inc. (AMP). The applicant can register for the AMP exam online or by calling 913-859-4600.
All exams are proctored, computer-based exams and are given at many testing centers throughout Georgia and the United States. Check the website for exam schedules and the exam location nearest to you. Exams are not given online. Results will be sent to you in approximately 4-6 weeks.
STEP 5
Apply to the GAWP Maintenance Technologist Certification Program
Once a passing score on the certification exam has been achieved, the applicant can apply for certification online. The applicant must fill out the application and provide documented proof that steps 1–4 have been completed. Please note that your application may take up to 2–3 weeks to process.
RENEWAL STEPS
All GAWP Maintenance Technologist Certifications expire on June 30 of every odd year. Renewal requirements must be met prior to the deadline.
STEP 1
Obtain Training
Prior to the deadline, Maintenance Technologists must obtain the required number of continuing education training hours for the level of certification that they currently have. For renewal, all hours must come from classes that are specifically approved for the Maintenance Technologist renewal.

STEP 2
Submit Application for Maintenance Technologist Renewal
Visit the GAWP Maintenance Technologist (MT) Renewal application page, and fill out the application. You will be required to upload proof of training. You will also be charged a renewal fee. You can pay your renewal fee by credit card online, or you can mail in a check. Please note that your application may take up to 2–3 weeks to process.
